Most period doors were painted bold primary colours such as Blues, Reds, Greens, Black or White etc.
However some polished doors are often seen on the entrances to public building and offices especially in the city areas or local council offices.
Whilst most work is solid timber I also make wardrobe doors from MDF which is good for painting and is a cheaper alternative to timber.
The front door of a house or office is the first impression received when you approach to enter a property. I have noticed on many occasions how a house can be transformed into its former glory once the correct door is fitted. If this happens to be with stained glass panels then the effect can be quite stunning.
It can also result in the increase in the value of a property so the cost can be weighed against this plus the obvious pleasure of having a new door.
At this point it is worth considering the condition of the existing locks and deciding if they need replacing. Putting corroded or damaged locks or door furniture on a new door is a false economy. It can spoil the appearance and your eye will be attracted to these items.
I can also supply sash windows with double glazing. Many people assume double glazing to be for insulation against cold weather. This is only part of the improvement. It also keeps out the heat making your air conditioner function more effectively. The noise reduction is also improved especially on busy roads or where noise is a problem. Draft seals are fitted allowing the sashes to run smooth and quiet.
If you are in the process of renovating your property and require replacement skirting boards or other detail items like picture rail I can copy and machine new timber or MDF saving time on stripping paint etc
